The spring melt begins
…let’s “watch” the Kennebec River during this melting process
With the above average snow pack and talk of potential flooding this spring, I thought it would be interesting to “watch” the Kennebec as spring approaches. This photo is the first in a series of photographs I plan to take as the runoff season approaches.
I took this photo this morning in Augusta, Maine looking upriver. The Calumet Bridge is in the center right of the photo. As of March 10th the river is locked in ice but that’s going to begin to change in the weeks ahead.
In the coming weeks I will continue to take photos from the same vantage point. Hopefully there will be sufficient detail to allow us to see how the river changes as the winter’s accumulated mass of snow begins to melt!
